Elements far from the project that can be simplified

• Download the volumes from your local/national database

  • If you are working In Brussels, you can download the sketchup direcly from UrbIS:

    

    It is possible to hide the triangulations of the sketchup model, using a Revit 2019 file:

    1. Click on View → Hidden Geometry to show hidden edges
    2. Create a new Tag hidden and place all elements in this layer.
    3. Hide the triangulation lines again (View → Hidden Geometry).
    4. Select all elements and place them in the Layer0 and save the file in version 8
    5. Now you will be able to hide the hidden layer when importing the file in Revit

    

• If you dont have a context volume provider, model them in place using the land registry as reference along with the volumes close to the project (next step).

Elements close to the project that must be precise

• Create a new Revit file.
• Clean up the file and leave only what is necessary (one level 0 or existing).
• Define a reference point as explained in Common reference point .
• Create clean new DWGs from the surveyor's file.
• Link the DWGs.

  • Do not delete references used to understand how they were modeled.
    • Use the DWGs in sections/elevations to place them in the correct plan by unchecking Current view only (only in this case).
• Use in-situ masses to model large volumes and details.
  • Model only what is necessary.
  • Use model lines for details or even the cleaned and linked dwg based on the surveyor work.
• Use the Toposolid tool for topography
• Use families for trees and other elements.
